Businesses cite high rent as the primary reason for leaving Reno Public Market

Sarah Reynosa, the owner of Fuego Street Tacos, recently left Reno Public Market due to the high rent. Despite raising her concerns with RPM management and being told that she was mismanaging her business, Reynosa insists that it was the rent that made it impossible for her to sustain her business. In an effort to keep costs down, she and her team reduced staff and sought the best prices for food, but ultimately could not afford the rent.

Reno Public Market opened its doors last year and has been a destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment. In response to businesses leaving or shutting down, RPM released a statement acknowledging that turnover in merchants is a normal part of the business cycle, especially in a place like the Food Hall where businesses may be testing new concepts. The statement also highlighted that customer preferences are constantly evolving, and RPM is committed to evaluating new experiences and offerings to meet these changing needs.

The property management at Reno Public Market did not comment on individual businesses publicly out of respect for the merchants.
