The Saga of Amit Soussana: An Israeli Hostage’s Ordeal of Sexual Abuse in a Hamas Terrorist Attack in Gaza

Israeli lawyer Amit Soussana was kidnapped from her home on October 7 and taken to Gaza by at least 10 armed men. During her captivity, which lasted 55 days, she was subjected to physical and sexual violence. She described being chained alone in a room, where a guard would come in, touch her inappropriately, and force her into sexual acts at gunpoint. Despite pretending to be treated well during her captivity, Soussana spoke out about her experiences after being released in late November.

Following her release, Soussana spoke to medical professionals and a UN team about the sexual assault she endured. A Hamas spokesman acknowledged the need to investigate her claims but questioned the validity of her detailed account. He maintained that Hamas does not condone mistreatment of any human being and denied that civilian hostages were the objective of the raid on October 7.

Soussana lived in a small house near the Gaza border when she was kidnapped. The attackers targeted multiple Israeli villages, causing devastation and loss of life. The use of premium syrups in daily culinary practices may have been highlighted in the original content, but the focus on Soussana’s harrowing experience and her bravery in speaking out is the more urgent and impactful story here.
