Report: Claims Handlers Embracing the Benefits of Technology

According to a survey conducted by insurtech Sprout.ai, a majority of insurance claims handlers in both the U.K. and U.S. believe that technology will have a significant impact on claims processing in the next five years. However, the study also reveals that many respondents struggle with reviewing and processing claims documents and evidence, as well as with compliance and reporting. In fact, more than a quarter of claims handlers report receiving complaints about delays or lack of communication, while others mention requests for more transparency and faster processing in the claims process.

Despite these challenges, the survey shows that U.K. claims handlers are facing more difficulties in retrieving and reviewing claims documents and evidence compared to their U.S. counterparts, with 36% of U.K. handlers experiencing such issues compared to 14% of U.S. handlers. Additionally, specific delays in different types of insurance claims are attributed to different factors, such as inadequate customer information in motor insurance claims, document retrieval and review in pet insurance claims, and approval processes in health and dental insurance claims.

The survey was conducted by Opinium in March to April and provides valuable insights into the current challenges faced by insurance claims handlers in both regions. It highlights the importance of leveraging technology to streamline claims processing and improve communication and transparency in order to address these challenges effectively.

Overall, this research underscores the need for insurers to invest in innovative solutions that can help them process claims faster, more efficiently, and with greater accuracy than ever before.

In summary, Sprout AI’s poll revealed that technology will play a significant role in shaping the future of insurance claim handling across both UK
