247 Sports Ranks SEC College Football Teams in Power Rankings

Over the past four weeks, Kentucky’s football program has been overshadowed by men’s basketball news. With spring ball now over, we have a clearer picture of the team’s composition for the upcoming fall season. In recent rankings, Georgia topped the SEC football teams, with Texas coming in second in their first year in the conference.

Kentucky ranked 12th, which was somewhat disappointing for some. However, Brad Crawford from 247 Sports believes that the Wildcats will be one of the faster teams in the league this season, thanks to standout players like Barion Brown and Dane Key. The success of Kentucky this season will largely depend on new offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan’s ability to integrate first-year QB Brock Vandagriff with these speedy players.

Although they lost key players like running back Ray Davis, Kentucky is expected to excel in the trenches with experienced linemen leading the team. The Wildcats are expected to have a strong presence on both sides of the line of scrimmage, with veterans taking on key roles. Crawford emphasized that Vandagriff and Hamdan will be crucial in ensuring that Kentucky remains competitive against other talented SEC teams.

Kentucky’s season will kick off on Saturday, August 31st, with a game against Southern Miss at Kroger Field.
