New health permit introduced by NNPH for temporary food establishments

Vendors who operate at more than five special events in a calendar year will now have the option to use one permit for the entire year, thanks to a new temporary food establishment permit and online application system launched by Northern Nevada Public Health. This new system is designed to streamline the permitting and inspection process while ensuring the safety of the food being served to the community.

Kristen deBraga, Senior Environmental Health Specialist at NNPH, believes that this new permit type will help vendors comply with regulations more easily and conveniently. To apply for the permit, vendors will need to use a servicing area, such as a commercial kitchen with a valid county health permit. In addition, vendors will now have the ability to apply for and pay for temporary food establishment permits online.

To provide more information about the new permit system and answer any questions vendors may have, NNPH will be hosting a public forum on May 7 at 5:30 p.m. at their Conference Rooms A/B located at 1001 E. 9th Street, Building B. The forum will cover common types of violations and give vendors an opportunity to learn more about the new process. A link to stream the forum on Zoom can be found on their website.

Overall, this new temporary food establishment permit and online application system will make it easier for vendors to comply with regulations while ensuring that special events are safe for everyone involved.
