In recent news, a group of employees from Steward Health Care, which operates hospitals in Brockton, Taunton, and Fall River, have reported not receiving their paychecks this morning. This comes after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this week.
Steward Health Care President Mark Rich issued a statement explaining that the delay in payment was due to an error within the Bank of America system. He reassured employees that their payroll and benefits were fully funded and would be credited to their accounts within the next 24 hours.
At 8 a.m. this morning, Rich sent out a message to employees acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the error. He expressed regret for any confusion or frustration that may have arisen and emphasized that they had followed all of Bank of America’s procedures after the Chapter 11 filing. The company is currently working with state officials to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Steward Health Care employs over 30,000 individuals at more than 30 hospitals across the U.S., including eight locations in Massachusetts. The company’s financial difficulties have led to concerns about its future, but Rich stated that they are committed to providing their employees with consistent and timely paychecks despite these challenges.
