Sha’Carri Richardson and Cardi B discuss upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics

On Saturday, the world watched as World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson and Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B shared their love for Paris in a video that premiered during NBC Sports’ coverage of the 150th Kentucky Derby. The two women got their nails done together, chatted about Richardson’s training regimen and expressed their excitement for the French capital hosting the Olympics, which open on July 26.

Richardson, 24, won the 2023 World 100m title in a personal-best time of 10.65 seconds, making her the favorite to win the Paris Olympic 100m final on August 3. Only four women have ever run faster than Richardson, and she is determined to make history in France.

Before she can achieve her goal of winning an Olympic gold medal, Richardson must first qualify for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials from June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon. The top three women in the 100m will qualify for the individual event in Paris, while likely the top six will go for the 4x100m relay. Richardson is also a contender for a spot on team USA in another event – she finished third at last year’s Pre Classic meet and will be back again this May to race in Eugene once again.

NBC Sports and Peacock are set to air live coverage of all major competitions leading up to the Paris Games, including live streaming of Richardson’s race at this year’s Pre Classic meet on May 25th
