Statement by SIA on Legislation from the Senate Commerce Committee Funding CHIPS and Science Programs

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) issued a statement on April 30, 2024, endorsing provisions included in legislation pending before the Senate Commerce Committee. This statement was made by Vice President of Government Affairs David Isaacs, who emphasized the importance of funding critical CHIPS & Science Act programs. According to SIA, these programs would drive innovation and promote resiliency throughout the semiconductor supply chain.

As the voice of the semiconductor industry, SIA is one of America’s top export industries. It plays a crucial role in driving economic strength, national security, and global competitiveness. Representing 99% of U.S. semiconductor industry revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms, SIA works with Congress, the Administration, and key industry stakeholders worldwide to promote policies that fuel innovation and drive international competition.
