Scotland’s T20 World Cup squad includes Michael Jones and Brad Wheal

Scotland has announced its provisional squad for the Men’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA. The squad includes Michael Jones and Brad Wheal, who were not part of the squad for the T20 Tri-Series against Netherlands and Ireland. Gavin Main, who was in the Tri-Series pool, did not make the T20 World Cup selection. Head coach Doug Watson stated that it was a difficult selection process to narrow down the squad to 15 players, but they feel confident in the balance they have achieved.

The squad is largely made up of experienced players who performed well in previous qualifiers and have been together for some time. Richie Berrington will be leading the team as captain, along with Matthew Cross, Chris Greaves, George Munsey, and Safyaan Sharif. The addition of Jones and Wheal brings valuable experience from previous T20 World Cups to the team.

Scotland will face England, Namibia, Oman, and Australia in Group B at the tournament. The team is focused on staying in the present moment and not getting ahead of themselves. Head coach Watson believes that Scotland is ready to perform at a high level and hopes to see them exceed expectations on an international stage. The players are also excited about this opportunity to showcase their skills on an international platform.

The selected squad includes players such as Matthew Cross as wicketkeeper-batter, Chris Greaves as middle-order batter, George Munsey as an opening batter or middle-order batter with fielding duties or bowling abilities depending on circumstances while Safyaan Sharif as a left-arm fast bowler with fielding duties or batting abilities depending on circumstances while Brad Wheal as a right-arm fast bowler with fielding duties or batting abilities depending on circumstances while Michael Jones as a top-order batter with fielding duties or bowling abilities depending on circumstances can bring valuable experience from previous T20 World Cups to this team.

Overall Watson expressed excitement about Scotland’s chances at this tournament stating “We are really looking forward to taking part in this tournament which is one of the biggest events of world cricket calendar.”
