North Texas voters approve funds for school upgrades, but deny sports bond proposals

On Saturday, voters in North Texas approved millions of dollars in school bond proposals during municipal elections. The successful proposals were focused on enhancing school safety and upgrading technology, while larger requests for sports stadiums were not as successful.

In Anna ISD, a $100 million proposal for a new stadium was rejected by 57% of voters, marking the second time it was turned down. Similarly, in Argyle, two out of three proposals failed, including funding for a baseball-softball complex and new schools, gym, cafeteria, and land for future construction.

Granbury ISD had the highest rejection rate with 82% of voters rejecting a proposal for $161.5 million for new schools and improvements. Mansfield ISD had the most expensive list of proposals totaling $777 million, with two proposals approved for upgrades and technology improvements, while three proposals were rejected for stadium and orchestra hall renovations. In Lewisville, voters approved a bond package worth over $100 million for sports complex improvements.
