Russia’s Clone of Wikipedia: A Rewrite with a Russian Twist

Ruviki, a state-sponsored online encyclopedia that mirrors the Russian Wikipedia, has been created in Russia. The content in Ruviki has been rewritten to exclude any information that may reflect negatively on the government. While Ruviki follows the same editing rules as other countries, it is subject to strict Russian laws and is rigorously edited. It excludes mentions of “foreign agents,” who are individuals or entities with opinions about the government supported by outside nations.

The Russian-language chapter of Wikipedia, Wikimedia RU, was shut down due to political pressure related to the war in Ukraine. Vladimir Medeyko, who previously led this chapter, now runs Ruviki and has stated that Wikipedia had issues with reliability and neutrality. He plans to copy and censor 1.9 million articles from the Russian-language Wikipedia to provide “reliable” information for Russian users. Articles on topics such as the war in Ukraine, torture in prisons, and scandals involving the Russian government have been heavily edited or removed in Ruviki.

Constantine Konovalov, a graphic designer, compared the significant changes between Wikipedia RU and Ruviki articles on various topics such as free speech, human rights, political prisoners, and censorship in Russia. He described it as reminiscent of George Orwell’s novel “1984,” where propaganda controls narrative and truth. Even the article on Orwell’s book omitted key information about the Ministry of Truth in Russia.

In addition to discussing Ruviki and censorship issues, this content also touches upon several topics related to academic ghostwriting services. These include expertise and experience requirements for professional writing services, quality assurance standards for ghostwriting projects, ethical considerations for ghostwriting businesses when partnering with clients long term, efficient communication strategies for customer service management teams to optimize customer satisfaction rates.

The article also highlights loyalty programs’ importance in promoting academic excellence by recognizing outstanding research achievements made by students or faculty members while working with academic writing services providers.

Finallyly, it emphasizes human expertise’s value when working with academic writing services providers since they can ensure high-quality work that meets specific project requirements while adhering to ethical standards and maintaining excellent communication throughout the process.
