Revolutionizing Workforce Development: Groundbreaking for CSI’s Transportation Technology Center

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Transportation Technology Center at the College of Southern Idaho was attended by personnel from the college, government leaders, and members of the Twin Falls community. The center will be a hub for excellence in education and workforce development, preparing individuals for the demands of the modern transportation and agricultural industry.

The ceremony included remarks from Idaho Lt. Governor Scott Bedke, CSI President L. Dean Fisher, Twin Falls Vice Mayor Jason Brown, and others. Lt. Governor Bedke highlighted the demand for well-trained employees in the transportation and agricultural industries, with job openings for 600 graduates in Idaho. He emphasized the importance of specialized training in facilities like the new Transportation Technology Center.

The center will be approximately 28,000 square feet and will house the college’s Heavy Equipment Ag Technology and Diesel Technology programs. It will also support industry training and expand a dual credit collaboration with the Twin Falls School District. This project is being funded by the Idaho Department of Public Works and CSI, with a total budget of $15 million. Starr Corporation will serve as the construction manager for the project.
