Meltio awarded SME of the Year for pioneering industrial innovation with 3D printing

In the VII Edition of the SME of the Year Award, Meltio, a company based in Linares, Jaén, was recognized as the best small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) in Spain. Founded in 2019, Meltio specializes in metal 3D printing for industrial parts and has become a significant employer in the Andalusian town. The company’s innovative manufacturing process has led to lower costs and increased efficiency in industrial processes.

Meltio has developed a pioneering method of metal 3D printing by patenting the first head that extracts welding wire from a multilaser. With its cutting-edge technology, Meltio serves industries such as automotive, aerospace, and naval. The company employs over 100 people and exports 96% of its production to over 70 countries worldwide.

The CEO of Meltio, Ángel Llavero, expressed his pride in the company’s contribution to the revival of the Linares area. During the award ceremony held at Banco Santander’s headquarters in Madrid, Minister of Economy Carlos Body invited King Felipe VI to visit Meltio’s facilities to see firsthand its impact on the local economy. The Spanish Chamber of Commerce President José Luis Bonet praised Meltio’s essential role as creators of jobs and wealth while Banco Santander’s CEO in Spain Ángel Rivera acknowledged their resilience against challenges and continuous efforts towards job creation and project development.

Innovation, sustainability, employment opportunities, digitalization were key factors considered while selecting Meltio as this year’s winner among nearly 2000 applicants with 21 finalists across various sectors like healthcare, manufacturing etc.
