Passivhaus technology integrated into Fulham eco home now available for £3.5m

A retrofitted Victorian terraced house in Fulham is now on the market for £3.5 million, after undergoing a deep retrofit to improve energy efficiency. The current owners collaborated with Hudson Architects to incorporate Passivhaus technology into the home, resulting in reduced energy consumption and an airtight, highly insulated property.

The three-storey home on Cloncurry Street features period details such as herringbone wood flooring in the front of the house and bespoke joinery in all the bedrooms. Special thermally broken Crittal doors open onto a 37-foot back garden. The retrofitting process also included air filtering, a heat recovery system, and underfloor heating for guilt-free enjoyment of the home.

Emma Stead, head of Savills Fulham, highlights that it is rare to see retrofitted homes on the market in Fulham and expects strong interest from buyers looking for eco-conscious properties. The UK has many drafty homes that require retrofitting to improve energy efficiency, and this property serves as an example of how older properties can be made more sustainable.

Chris Skidmore, former net zero tsar for the government, emphasizes that improving energy insulation in homes is crucial for reducing demand for fossil fuels and saving money on bills. Retrofitting historic homes can be a sustainable solution and an attractive selling point for potential buyers looking for eco-friendly properties in desirable locations.
