Memorial Health receives grant for cancer initiative, enhancing their ability to save lives | News, Sports, Jobs

Recently, the Memorial Health Foundation has awarded a grant of $3,000 to support the American Red Cross’ Blood Saves Lives Fighting Cancer initiative. Sharon Kesselring, the executive director of the American Red Cross of the Ohio River Valley, expressed her excitement about this new partnership with the Health System. The grant was given by the foundation’s board of trustees due to the crucial role that the American Red Cross plays in patient care within the Health System and in the region.

The American Red Cross collects blood throughout the entire region and processes it for use by patients fighting cancer when they require it. Blood transfusions are an essential part of cancer treatment and provide relief from symptoms caused by chemotherapy treatments. Julie Dye and Jill Deming presented the grant on behalf of the foundation at Memorial Health System’s first blood drive of 2024.

More information about the next Memorial Health Foundation grant cycle can be found online at mhsystem.org/Foundation starting July 1st.
