Technology Center instructor at Great Plains apologizes for making racist comments in recording

A nearly hour-long recording has been released, featuring Frederick Great Plains Technology Center instructor Bryan Smith making multiple racist remarks towards Black and Hispanic individuals. In his apology, Smith expressed remorse to his family, friends, coworkers, students and their families. He acknowledged that he has dedicated his life to promoting positive race relations in the community.

The recordings were posted on YouTube and captured Smith engaging in a conversation with Tillman County Sheriff candidate Robert Wallace. Aside from the offensive racial statements, Smith was heard saying that he only teaches at the Vo Tech for financial gain.

This incident has sparked outrage and concern among community members, drawing significant attention to issues of inclusivity and diversity in educational institutions. It is important for institutions to address and confront these issues to create a more inclusive and respectful learning environment for all individuals.
