Quantum Networking Breakthrough: International Team Achieves First Telecommunications-Wavelength Quantum Data Transmission

A team of international researchers from Madrid achieved a breakthrough in quantum networking by producing, storing, and retrieving quantum information for the first time. This development is crucial for distributed computing and secure communication in the field of quantum physics.

The ability to share quantum information is essential for networking in this field, as it has the potential to solve significant problems in various fields such as finance, data decryption, molecular design, and material studies. However, one of the challenges in developing quantum networks is the loss of quantum information over long distances.

To address this issue, the researchers interconnected key devices using regular optical fibers to transmit quantum data.
