Power Up: Three Penn State Health Hospitals Provide Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Penn State Health is now offering EV charging stations at three of their hospitals to accommodate patients, visitors, employees, and students who drive electric vehicles. The three hospitals with charging stations are Hampden Medical Center, Lancaster Medical Center, and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Hampden Medical Center has eight charging stations located in different areas of the hospital premises. These include four stations in the Employee Lot behind the hospital, two in the Main Visitors Lot, and two in the Emergency Department Lot. The fee for charging at these stations is $1 per hour.

Lancaster Medical Center boasts 16 charging stations scattered across the hospital grounds. These stations can be found in the Garage, Visitors Lot, and Emergency Department Lot, with a varying charging fee structure. The first four hours of charging are free, after which a fee of $2 per hour is applied.

Milton S. Hershey Medical Center offers four charging stations located in the Westview Parking Garage near the University Conference Center on the first floor. The charging fee at this location is $1 per hour. The charging stations are managed by the EV charging network ChargePoint, where customers can use the app to see available stations in real-time and receive alerts when their charging is complete.

To facilitate payment, customers can use tap-to-pay credit or debit cards, as well as digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. Cash payments or non-contactless credit cards are not accepted on-site. ChargePoint requires users to enter a payment method during the app setup process. For assistance with charging or any issues, customers can contact ChargePoint Customer Support at 1-888-758-4389.
