OKWU Baseball has secured their spot in the upcoming NAIA national tournament after winning the conference championship for the first time since 2019. To advance to the national tournament, the Eagles needed to win all four games in the KCAC tournament and they did just that. They defeated Friends University twice, as well as Tabor and conference leaders Kansas Wesleyan to take home the crown.

In the title game, Ashton Luerta delivered an outstanding performance on the mound for OKWU. Facing only 12 batters, Luerta struck out 11 of them, showcasing his dominance. Head Coach Kirk Kelly praised Luerta’s performance during the game.

Looking ahead, OKWU is eagerly awaiting the announcement of their first-round opponent for the NAIA tournament next Monday. Coach Kelly expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to potentially win a national championship this season. The details regarding their first-round opponent will be revealed later this week after the announcement on Thursday. Check back for updates on Wesleyan’s journey in the tournament.
