Alabama maintains elite status as national championship contender amid alterations

The 2024 college football season is poised to bring some significant changes, but fans of Alabama Crimson Tide football are primarily focused on their own team. With Nick Saban no longer leading the team, new head coach Kalen DeBoer will face high expectations in his debut season in Tuscaloosa. The new-look SEC and expanded College Football Playoff field have fans expecting DeBoer to lead the team to an undefeated regular season, a spot in the College Football Playoff, and a chance to compete for a national championship.

While there are skeptics who doubt Alabama’s ability to maintain their dynasty without Saban, Chip Patterson of CBS Sports believes any challenges the team faces are likely to come in the College Football Playoff matchups, rather than the regular season. The regular season schedule for Alabama in 2024 includes tough matchups at home against the Georgia Bulldogs and Missouri Tigers, and on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers and Tennessee Volunteers.
