Dexter High School Introduces New Course Examining Technology in Music

A new course is set to be introduced at Dexter High School that aligns with the school’s strategic plan of preparing students for the 21st century by integrating technology into education. The course, called Music Technology, aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and technological proficiency among students, ensuring they acquire skills that are relevant to modern industries.

The idea for the Music Technology course was proposed by Grace Wolfe, the Director of Bands at DHS, and was approved at the April 29 meeting. Wolfe explained that the course will provide students with skills necessary for modern music production and technology-driven music industries. It will allow students to explore creativity through digital tools and gain a deeper understanding of music beyond traditional methods, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in the field.

The semester-long class will be open to students with varying musical backgrounds, experience levels, and interests. Students will have the opportunity to learn about various software, technologies, and musical devices
