Robinson and Smith honored as Fellows of AAAS

In 2023, Allen Robinson was appointed as the dean of the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to this role, he served as the director of CMU-Africa, Carnegie Mellon University’s campus in Kigali, Rwanda.

As a professor in both the Departments of Atmospheric Science and Mechanical Engineering, Robinson’s research focuses on technical and policy issues related to the impact of emissions from energy systems on air quality, climate, and public health. He also emphasizes policy analysis and decision-making in these areas.

Apart from his work at CMU-Africa, Robinson has previously led the Environmental Protection Agency-funded Center for Air, Climate, and Energy Solutions. This center involves researchers and students from seven universities and a national laboratory. He has also served as the president of the American Association for Aerosol Research.
