Dale Earnhardt Jr. has announced his return to the broadcast booth for the 2025 NASCAR season, joining TNT Sports and Amazon Prime’s coverage teams. The news was confirmed on Tuesday, with Earnhardt expressing his excitement about the move, citing his nostalgia for TNT’s NASCAR coverage and looking forward to working with them again, as well as creating content for fans through Bleacher Report.
Earnhardt had previously worked as a color commentator for NBC’s NASCAR coverage from 2018 to 2023. His departure was announced in February, with NBC recognizing his contributions to the network and wishing him the best moving forward. In November, NASCAR signed a new media rights deal worth $7.7 billion from 2025 to 2031, with TNT and Amazon Prime joining Fox Sports and NBC Sports in a comprehensive seven-year package.
Amazon Prime will exclusively stream NASCAR events for the first time, while Fox and NBC will continue to broadcast 14 races each season. TNT, which last had broadcast rights in 2014, will air five events, though specific race assignments have not been announced yet. Earnhardt, who retired from full-time competition in 2017 but has continued to race occasionally in the Xfinity circuit, is excited about this new opportunity to be back in the broadcast booth while also providing analysis and digital content for TNT and Amazon Prime through collaboration with Bleacher Report and Dirty Mo Media.
