LSU’s Malik Nabers joins the New York Giants

On Thursday night, the New York Giants made a bold move in the NFL draft by selecting Malik Nabers with the No. 6 pick. The team is excited to see what Nabers can bring to the table as they hope he will provide the explosive receiving threat they have been missing since Odell Beckham Jr. left in 2014. Nabers has already shown his impressive skills at LSU where he caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns in just one season.

The Giants had considered trading up to select a quarterback with their top pick, given that Daniel Jones is recovering from ACL surgery and his availability for the start of the season is uncertain. However, with Chicago, Washington, and New England all taking quarterbacks with their top three picks, the Giants decided to stick with Nabers. Jones has led the team to one playoff berth since becoming the starter in 2019 as the No. 6 overall pick, and he will turn 27 soon.

Despite their struggles last season, finishing with a 6-11 record and missing out on the playoffs after making it in 2022, the Giants are determined to get back on track this year. With Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and Isaiah Hodgins already part of their receiving group, Nabers will have plenty of opportunities to make an impact and help turn things around for this struggling franchise. After all, Beckham was once their standout receiver from 2014 to 2016 when he consistently put up big numbers before leaving for Cleveland in free agency.
