Top spring sports performers in Somerset County from April 22-27

On Monday, the Northern Cambria baseball team defeated Conemaugh Township 3-2. D.J. Bambino had two hits, while Zack Petree and Colin Dinyar each contributed a hit and an RBI for Conemaugh Township. Despite Larry Weaver’s strong pitching performance, allowing two earned runs over six innings and striking out seven, the team could not secure the win.

In softball action, Shade dominated Forbes Road in a doubleheader. In Game 1, Kaylee Jamison and Lowen Mincek led the Panthers with two hits and three RBIs each in a 15-0 victory. Tara Corradini excelled in both offense and defense, doubling twice and scoring three runs while allowing just one hit. The Panthers continued their success in Game 2 with a 20-0 win in three innings. Corradini went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Payton Maddy contributed three hits, including two doubles, and three runs scored. Jaedyn Krupper was stellar in the circle, allowing just one hit.

Elsewhere on Monday night, Berlin Brothersvalley defeated Ferndale 14-1 in five innings with Coral Prosser hitting a grand slam and Elena Ritchey homering. Sydney Walker had a strong performance with three hits and three RBIs, along with allowing just one run on one hit over five innings. In a non-conference matchup, Meyersdale fell to Allegany 2-0 with Marcella Dupre recording the lone hit for the Red Raiders, and Izabella Donaldson pitching admirably.
