Stock Exchange meeting with Luis Caputo and 500 businessmen amid Base Law discussion

The upcoming meeting with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, is highly anticipated by nearly 500 businessmen at the Stock Exchange on Monday at 6 p.m. This event is organized by the Mediterránea Foundation, a think tank founded by Domingo Cavallo in 1977.

The foundation has previously worked with officials such as Alfonso Prat Gay and Carlos Melconian, and now Caputo has been invited to present at this event. Although there is no defined agenda, there is anticipation among businessmen for insights on the economic plan. In recent weeks, Caputo has announced sectoral measures like tariff reductions for imports in key industries. However, there is still uncertainty surrounding the economic recovery and the exit strategy from the current recession.

One of the key topics of discussion is likely to be the Bases Law, which will begin discussions soon and includes provisions for privatizations, State reform, and labor reform. Businessmen are hopeful for progress but emphasize the need for legislative action rather than rule by decree. In a related context, Milei has promised to lift restrictions on stocks as soon as possible but did not specify a timeline due to various economic factors. The minister’s team is focusing on advancing fiscal surplus as a priority.

Overall, the meeting with Caputo is anticipated to shed light on the government’s economic direction and provide clarity on key policy issues affecting businesses and the economy. It will be coordinated by Juan Ignacio Abuchdid, and Osvaldo Giordano will also participate in this event at the Stock Exchange on Monday at 6 p.m., where businessmen will reaffirm their support for the Bases Law that they believe will provide a framework for sustainable economic growth.
