Michigan secures transfer of Florida Atlantic center Vlad Goldin, reuniting him with coach Dusty May

Michigan has gained a valuable addition to its men’s basketball program with the commitment of 7-foot-1 center Vladislav Goldin. Goldin, who has played three seasons for Dusty May at Florida Atlantic, averaged 15.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game during his time at FAU. He is expected to bring low-post scoring and pick-and-roll capabilities to the Wolverines as he enters his final season of college eligibility.

Goldin’s decision to play for Michigan was motivated in part by the loss of scoring and defensive presence that the team experienced when Hunter Dickinson transferred to Kansas. With his commitment, the Wolverines have gained a valuable asset that will help them overcome this loss and compete for success under Coach May.

May is overhauling the Michigan men’s basketball program with the addition of transfers like Danny Wolf from Yale, Tre Donaldson from Auburn, Sam Walters from Alabama, Roddy Gayle Jr. from Ohio State, and Rubin Jones from North Texas. Additionally, Michigan secured a commitment from Justin Pippen, son of basketball legend Scottie Pippen. These additions are expected to help revitalize the program and improve its competitiveness in the Big Ten Conference and beyond.

By committing to Michigan, Goldin has decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the 2024 NBA Draft, signaling his intention to focus on his final season of college basketball and help lead the Wolverines to success under Coach May. This decision demonstrates his commitment not only to basketball but also to his education and personal development at Michigan.
