Exploring the Past: Boy Scouts and a Science Fair | Vintage Photo Collection

In the 1970s, science fairs in Franklin County were a time for children to showcase their creativity and passion for learning. We have uncovered a set of photos taken during this week in May of 1974 that offer a glimpse into what these events were like. One girl stands out, proudly holding up a commemorative plaque as she won first place in the science fair. Another girl took fourth place, while others can be seen working diligently on their projects.

In addition to the science fair photos, we have also discovered images of Boy Scouts from Georgia constructing a miniature log house. The scouts are hard at work, with some onlookers peering out of a building’s window to observe them. One scout even makes silly faces and sticks his tongue out, adding some levity to the serious task at hand.

Do you recognize any of the individuals or groups captured in our photos from 1974? If so, we would love to hear your stories about what it was like to participate in these events back then.
