The T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability at Mississippi State University is excited to host a hands-on training session aimed at professionals in the field of assistive technology, including occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, teachers, and counselors. On April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to learn about LUCI, a smart sensor power wheelchair system designed to prevent injury and damage during wheelchair use.
During the session, attendees will participate in classroom instruction, an end-user panel discussion, hands-on training, and lunch. Registration is $150 per person and includes a CEU credit. Participants can register for the event on the T.K. Martin Center website.
The hands-on training will provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of LUCI’s programming options, features, and limitations through practical experience using the system on different styles of wheelchairs. Smart sensors in the LUCI system alert users when they are too close to an obstacle, helping to enhance safety and promote independent mobility.
Rebecca Mathis, an assistive technology specialist at the T.K.
