The course MKTG 0003: The Art and Science of Influence is designed to explore the various ways persuasion influences our daily lives. Whether it’s governments or individuals, everyone engages in persuasive efforts, which makes understanding the techniques of influence crucial. This course provides a comprehensive overview of contemporary theories and methods to present ideas in a persuasive manner.

The course starts with negotiation basics and delves into the relationship between attitudes and behaviors, examining cognitive and emotional biases. Students will gain a toolbox of science-based persuasion techniques by learning practical tactics in data visualization, numerical communication, and persuasive writing. “The Art and Science of Influence” goes beyond a typical course to explore the mechanisms shaping our choices, beliefs, and actions in a world full of persuasive forces.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand theories of persuasion, create persuasive messages based on research and theory, explain why persuasion techniques work using relevant research and theory, and incorporate class materials into a knowledgeable persuasive campaign.
