NYU Langone Health and Long Island Hospital Move Closer to Merger

In 2022, Long Island Community Hospital and NYU Langone Health received approval from both state and federal authorities to affiliate. This approval resulted in NYU Langone becoming the active parent organization of the 306-bed medical center. The announcement of the affiliation plan was made in the summer of 2021.

As part of the affiliation plan, Long Island Community Hospital would undergo a name change and become a division within the NYU Langone hospital system. This move, once approved, will integrate the hospital into the larger NYU Langone network to provide enhanced healthcare services to the community.

NYU Langone Health, based in New York City, is anticipating the completion of its merger with Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, New York within the next year. A spokesperson for the health system mentioned to Becker’s that while Long Island Community Hospital remains a separate corporation, its affiliation with NYU Langone will allow it to access the resources of the larger system. The spokesperson mentioned that a full merger is expected to take place in approximately one year.
