Prioritizing Health, Well-being, and Sustainability for Future Generations

In the upcoming International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action, a side event will focus on reinvigorating and recalibrating the unfinished agenda of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). This event aims to highlight the importance of advancing SRHR as a core component of health and sustainable development, while also addressing broader issues such as stigma, inequality, and political division.

Speakers at this event include Atul Gawande, Assistant Administrator for Global Health at USAID; Yolanda Varela, General Director of the National Center for Gender Equity and Reproductive Health in Mexico; Chris Carter, Deputy Director of the Human Development Department at Global Health FCDO; Bunyarit Sukrat, Director of the Bureau of Reproductive Health at the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health in Thailand; and Pascale Allotey, Director of HRP at the WHO.

The event will feature a moderated discussion with Monserrath López from WOSM in Guatemala, Levi Singh from SRHR Africa Trust in South Africa, and Hon. Apsana Begum, a Labour MP from the United Kingdom. These experts and advocates will share their experiences, evidence, and actions to push forward the SRHR agenda and explore inclusive solutions to the challenges facing sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide.
