New Zealand Squad for T20 World Cup 2024 Announced – Devon Conway Cleared to Play, Kane Williamson Named Captain

New Zealand’s provisional 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup has been announced, with Kane Williamson leading the team. Devon Conway has been included in the squad as a reserve, along with Tim Southee and Trent Boult. Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry are also part of the squad, making their debut in this format.

Conway was ruled out of the IPL due to a thumb injury he sustained in February. However, Williamson is back as captain after missing the last two T20I series due to personal reasons and IPL commitments. Adam Milne is unavailable due to ankle surgery, while Kyle Jamieson continues his recovery from a stress fracture in his lower back.

The squad includes Allen, Bracewell, Chapman, Neesham and Sodhi, who were all part of the tour of Pakistan. Coach Gary Stead is confident that the squad has all bases covered and can adapt to various conditions in the West Indies, where the tournament will be held. Stead expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of players like Henry and Rachin Ravindra in the T20 format.
