How Does Sports Illustrated Rank the Jaguars’ 2024 Draft Class?

The NFL Draft of 2024 has already passed, and reviews of the classes are now being released by various sports publications. According to Sports Illustrated, the Jaguars’ draft class ranks 14th out of 16 in the AFC, ahead of only the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans. The Houston Texans hold the tenth spot, while the Indianapolis Colts rank fifth.

The Jaguars faced criticism from Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verderame for their draft decisions, particularly for passing on high-upside talent with their first-round pick at No. 23. However, general manager Trent Baalke defended this decision, stating that Brian Thomas Jr. was their target at No. 17 and they were pleased he was still available at 23. The Jaguars also made a smart move by trading back to accumulate more picks, which should not be heavily criticized since there was limited talent in later rounds.

Despite some room for improvement in their draft class, the Jaguars’ decisions were not as questionable as some may suggest. Overall, their picks were well thought out and should help them strengthen their team for future seasons.
