Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, the Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, has announced her Small Business of the Week: The Cottage of Crawford County. Throughout this Congress, Ranking Member Ernst plans to recognize a small business in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
The Cottage of Crawford County is a thriving small business run by mother and daughter duo Cindy and Taylor Borkowski. They have turned their passion for home decor into a successful venture in Denison. The Borkowskis have been congratulated by Ranking Member Ernst for pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams and creating a great community in the area.
In 2020, Cindy and Taylor purchased the Your Treasure Chest home decor store and re-opened it as The Cottage on Broadway in Denison. Their products are often showcased on their Facebook page, where they continue to sell quality home decor as well as a selection of children, baby, seasonal, and devotional items. The Cottage has received recognition as the Best Boutique in Crawford County and has won the Innovators Award from the local Chamber and Development Council. Co-founder Taylor also plays a role as a community leader and organizes Denison’s Hot Summer Nights series. This year marks the fourth business anniversary for The Cottage.
