Pant, Dube, and Samson included in India’s T20 World Cup squad

India’s 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup is led by Rohit Sharma, who will be joined by legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the tournament starting on June 1 in the USA and West Indies. Some of the new additions to the squad include Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been chosen as Rohit’s opening partner, while Shubman Gill is among the four reserve players along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan. This squad includes a variety of spin options such as Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. The pace attack includes specialists like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh.

Chahal was not part of India’s recent T20 international squads but has been selected based on his impressive form in the IPL. Virat Kohli did not play any T20 internationals after the 2022 T20 World Cup until he was selected for the series at home against Afghanistan in January 2024. Suryakumar Yadav has also been included in the team along with Sanju Samson.

The Indian team will kick off their campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5 in New York followed by matches against Pakistan, USA and Canada. Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain of this team.
