Hamilton Health acquires Tennova hospital in Cleveland, Tenn.

Hamilton Health Care System in Dalton, Georgia is set to purchase Tennova Healthcare Cleveland, the largest hospital in Cleveland, Tennessee for $160 million. The nonprofit hospital aims to expand its operations into Southeast Tennessee with this acquisition. This move will allow the hospital to improve healthcare access and services in the region.

According to an announcement made by Community Health Systems on Thursday, the sale of Tennova Healthcare Cleveland is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2024 pending regulatory approvals. The hospital, which consists of 351 beds, medical offices, and subsidiaries, will be sold by Community Health Systems. The system has been operating the Cleveland hospital under the Tennova name for nearly ten years.

Hamilton Health Care System’s CEO Jeff Myers expressed his commitment to keeping healthcare services local to the communities they serve as a not-for-profit and one of the few remaining independent health systems in the area. He emphasized that their primary focus is on providing quality care to their community. By expanding into Cleveland, they aim to enhance the range of care options available to residents in Southeast Tennessee.
