Holiday World debuts new coaster as they open for the weekend – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

Holiday World, Indiana’s largest amusement park, is kicking off the spring season by unveiling its Thanksgiving-themed area. The new ride called ‘Good Gravy!’ has been generating a lot of buzz and excitement among park visitors.

The ‘Good Gravy!’ ride is an oversized interpretation of Thanksgiving dinner, where riders sit in gravy boat trains and speed out of grandma’s house, pass through a giant can of cranberry sauce, and go past a towering milk jug, only to repeat the experience in the opposite direction. This coaster is a family-friendly example of a “boomerang” ride, where riders experience both forward and backward rides using the same tracks.

While some boomerang coasters in other parks feature extreme twists, turns, and loops for advanced riders, ‘Good Gravy!’ is a relatively tame ride with a minimum height requirement of 38 inches. The new ride is located in the Thanksgiving-themed area, alongside other attractions like “Turkey Whirl” and “Gobblers Getaway.”

To raise money for the North Spencer Community Action Center, Holiday World recently auctioned off the first rides on ‘Good Gravy!’. The first rides took place on May 3 with exclusive access for Platinum and Season Pass members on May 4 and 5. The park opens to all visitors on Saturday with single-day passes starting at $39.99. Splashin’ Safari, the water park, opens the following weekend with increased prices. Both parks are operating on a cashless system and Holiday World is scheduled to close in October.

Overall, ‘Good Gravy!’ promises to be a popular attraction this season among families looking for fun activities during their holiday break from school or work.
