Tornado devastates Lancaster County business, resulting in 62 employee layoffs

Garner Industries, a company located in Lincoln, Nebraska, is facing a tough situation after a tornado destroyed its facility near Waverly. The CEO and president of Garner Industries, Scott McLain, announced in a press release that 62 employees had to be laid off as a result of the tornado that caused significant damage to the company’s 115,000-square-foot building. The tornado, classified as an EF-3, not only destroyed the building but also resulted in injuries to three people. In addition to the building, the company’s machine tool, molding, and automation equipment were also destroyed in the natural disaster.

McLain expressed his difficulty in dealing with this situation and emphasized that these layoffs were necessary for Garner Industries to continue its operations under these circumstances. He stated that affected employees would receive compensation and health benefits while navigating through this challenging time. Garner Industries is providing support by organizing community assistance, medical and mental health services and opportunities for new employment for the affected workers.

Despite the destruction caused by the tornado, Garner Industries has been making efforts to relocate its BinMaster product line to an alternate location in Lincoln. The company is working hard to move forward and ensure that its operations continue despite setbacks caused by the natural disaster. The community surrounding Garner Industries has shown support during this challenging time and McLain stated that he was determined to overcome these challenges together with them.
