Georgia man faces allegations of cheating Boone County business in nationwide scam

A Georgia man, named Cordary McFarland, has been charged with multiple felonies in Boone County for allegedly defrauding a business on Jan. 30. The charges include six counts of forgery and three counts of stealing. Despite the charges, McFarland is not currently in custody and a $100,000 bond has been set for his arrest.

According to a bond memo, McFarland is believed to be in Springfield, Missouri, after authorities were able to track his phone and the rental car he used from Indianapolis, Indiana. The memo states that McFarland has been traveling around the country with the intention of passing forged documents to banks and financial institutions in order to steal money. He is said to have access to rental cars and airline flights through his associates in Georgia, which he uses as part of his criminal activities.

The probable cause statement reveals that an employee of a business in Boone County reported three fraudulent transactions involving forged checks totaling $1,810.17, $2,852.17, and $2,587.18.
