Levi’s tightens its focus on jeans to improve their quality

Katy Perry, the pop superstar, attended the Coachella music festival in California last weekend to support her best friend Mia Moretti, who was debuting as a disc jockey. For the closing act of the event, Perry went to see rapper Doja Cat dressed in a black jumpsuit and ultra-wide jeans that barely clung to her hips.

Meanwhile, Levi Strauss & Co., one of the pioneers in classic denim, is undergoing a transformation to strengthen its brand amidst a rapidly changing market. The company has focused on two key items of clothing—baggy pants and denim skirts—which have seen a surge in demand, especially among women. Sales of jumpsuits, flared pants, and low-rise pants have exceeded expectations.

To increase the speed, agility, and efficiency of its business, Levi’s has initiated Project Fuel. This project involved layoffs and cost-cutting measures to streamline operations and improve financial performance. While the company reported losses in the first quarter, market analysts are optimistic about Levi’s prospects for the future.

In addition to restructuring, Levi’s has made strategic decisions to focus on its core products and optimize its international operations. The company has closed its footwear business in Europe, cut ties with certain brands, and closed a factory in Poland to reduce costs and improve profitability.
