Unveiling Evita Lestinen’s Investment Journey: How the Mimmit Invest Community Member Kickstarted Her Strategy

Lestinen, the editor-in-chief of Mimmit Invests, was unfamiliar with investing when he wrote an investment guide seven years ago. However, his brothers were heavily involved in investing and encouraged him to learn more. When Lestinen turned 18, one of his brothers helped him open a value share account with Nordnet. The portfolio initially included shares in the packaging manufacturer Huhtamäki for 500-1000 euros, which Lestinen funded with money earned from working at Prisma and gifts he received.

Lestinen’s investment strategy involves low-cost index funds, but he also makes individual stock picks from time to time. He prefers a buy-and-forget approach to investing and believes in building a positive attitude towards financial management as a form of self-care. While he doesn’t disclose the exact size of his investment portfolio, he emphasizes the importance of having peace of mind about his financial security.

Lestinen is known for his comprehensive and humorous financial content that is easily accessible to young people through Mimmit Invests. The blog has expanded to include investment events, a podcast, and articles on their website since its founding in 2018 by Pia-Maria Nickström and Hanna Tikander. Lestinen joined the team in 2020 and became editor-in-chief shortly after.

In early April, Lestinen co-authored an investment guide that stands out from other financial books by including social commentary on economics and financial literacy alongside practical advice on investing. The guide aims to make investing accessible and interesting to young people while providing a broader understanding of economic concepts.
