4-year-old Bryan Patrick aims to break record as ‘World’s Youngest Author’ with his debut book

Eleanor and Ervin Patrick, both educators, have nurtured their son’s fascination with letters. Bryan’s love for words has led him to write his first book at the young age of four. Now, he is striving for the Guinness Book of World Records title of “World’s Youngest Author.” His parents have been supportive of his unique passion for the alphabet and words.

From spelling advanced words like “axolotl” to visiting the Alphabet Museum and even dressing up as a superhero of his favorite letter ‘B,’ Bryan’s love for letters permeates every aspect of his life. The family created an alphabet garden in their backyard where each letter corresponds to a specific plant. What started as a simple interest has blossomed into a passion project for the whole family.

Despite still being in preschool, Bryan has already demonstrated skills beyond his age group. He can read fluently, knows all the letter sounds, can count, and has even grasped concepts like multiplication and division – skills typically taught to older children. Eleanor mentioned that they are now figuring out an appropriate grade level for Bryan due to his advanced abilities, which have largely been self-taught.

Every night, Bryan diligently worked on typing out the alphabet on the computer, gradually progressing to sentences and eventually completing an entire book within just one month. To achieve the title of the world’s youngest author, he must sell 1,000 copies of his book. Bryan is determined to break the current record held by Saeed Rashed AlMheiri, another four-year-old author. His family is hosting a book launch party in New Bern to support Bryan in his quest for this prestigious title.
