International Sports Press Association Acknowledges FloSports’ Global Presence

FloSports, a sports media company based in Austin, Texas, has received recognition for its excellence in video storytelling at the AIPS Sports Media Awards. The international awards received over 1,800 submissions from 141 countries across 11 categories, with entries going through various review stages before the final selection.

The feature that caught the attention of the judges was “Bob Beamon: The Legacy Beyond The Leap”, which explores Beamon’s journey in track and field while highlighting his historic long jump record at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. The feature also touches on the intersection of civil rights and social change during that time.

Published during Black History Month in 2023, “Bob Beamon: The Legacy Beyond The Leap” was featured on FloTrack and MileSplit channels and made it to the top three finalists in the Video Athlete Profile category. This is the third consecutive year that FloSports has been recognized for this category, following previous entries such as “Allie Ostrander: Under Pressure, Gaining Your Life Back” and “Caitlin Little: Fifteen Forever,” which also made it to the top 10 in previous years.

In addition to Video Athlete Profile recognition, FloSports was acknowledged in two other categories during the AIPS Sports Media Awards. “Noor’s Pursuit: A Young Muslim Woman’s Fight For Equality,” a longform feature story on MileSplit, was celebrated for Best Color Piece while “San Elizario: Una Forma De Vida,” a longform feature documentary on MileSplit, was recognized for Video Documentary. Winners of each category will receive cash prizes, with the overall winner taking home $8,000 and runner-ups receiving $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.
