Cast your vote for the Louisville-area high school player of the week

In the Louisville area, several female athletes showcased their talent on softball fields and lacrosse courts this week. Their outstanding performances have earned them nominations for Courier Journal girls athlete of the week. Voting for the award is currently open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the winner being announced on Friday.

Among the nominees is Manual senior Cameron Breier, who had a standout game in lacrosse against Mercy. She scored eight goals and had six assists during that match, impressing everyone with her skills on the field. Portland Christian sophomore Ava Gish also received a nomination for her exceptional performance in softball games against Beth Haven, Presentation, and Christian Educational Consortium. She recorded seven hits and five RBIs during those games, making a lasting impact on her teammates and opponents alike.

Another impressive athlete is Collegiate senior Bridgette Haraden, who had an impressive game in lacrosse against Cooper. She scored six goals and one assist during that match, demonstrating her skill and determination on the field. Mercy senior Maya Merrill was recognized for her outstanding pitching skills as well as earning a save against Fern Creek during softball games against Fern Creek, Atherton, Boyle County among others.

Assumption junior Lauren Satterly is also up for the award after delivering an impressive performance in softball games against Eastern, Male and Jeffersonville. She recorded six hits including two home runs, six RBIs and two stolen bases during those games proving to be a valuable asset to her teammates.
