On Sunday, the first session of the seminar on human rights in snow sports featured external speakers and FIS specialists. The panel of experts included Adam Hall, a Paralympic alpine skiing athlete from New Zealand, Mathilde Grenet, founder of “En Garde” organization focusing on safeguarding in sports organizations, Eddie Marshbaum, Head of Sport at Quest specializing in investigations and integrity, and Ken Read, a former Canadian alpine skiing legend.
The event was organized in response to a survey conducted by FIS with the NSAs that highlighted the need to address human rights issues in snow sports. In addition to the panel of experts, the seminar also featured insights from David Grevemberg, Chief Innovation and Partnership Officer at the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, and Gabriela Mueller Mendoza, a specialist in Diversity and Inclusion in sports.
The collaboration across FIS departments was evident throughout the seminar. Fiona Stevens, a member of FIS Council, contributed to the discussions along with Secretary General Michel Vion and Sustainability Director Susanna Sieff.
