Albany Area Primary Health Care Awarded $5.2M Grant

Albany Area Primary Health Care, Inc. has received a $5,187,269 Health Center Program grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This grant was announced by Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02). The purpose of this grant is to support the organization in expanding its services, opening new offices, and recruiting more healthcare providers in Southwest Georgia. This funding will also help ensure that patients in 13 counties in the region have access to quality healthcare.

As stated by Congressman Bishop, having health centers close to where people live is essential for timely care and adherence to treatment plans. Rural, smaller, and underserved communities often struggle to maintain local healthcare facilities, making grants like these crucial for improving access to healthcare in these areas.

Albany Area Primary Health Care is among the largest Community Health Centers in Georgia and Southwest Georgia. They are dedicated to providing affordable, accessible, and high-quality primary health care services to individuals and families regardless of their financial status. With this grant, they can continue serving the residents of Southwest Georgia effectively while also expanding their services to meet the growing needs of the community.

Health Resources and Services Administration-funded health centers are community-based and patient-directed organizations that play a vital role in meeting the healthcare needs of communities across the country. This grant will allow Albany Area Primary Health Care to continue serving as a vital resource for Southwest Georgians seeking affordable and accessible healthcare options.
