Cast your vote for the Louisville-area high school player of the week

This week, The Courier Journal has named five exceptional girls athletes as nominees for its athlete of the week. These talented young women have demonstrated consistency in their performance on softball diamonds and lacrosse fields. Voting is currently open for the award, with the poll closing at 6 p.m. Thursday and the winner being announced Friday.

Among the nominees is Tia Ice from Assumption, who had an impressive run against Meade County, Mercy, and South Warren. She hit seven balls and scored seven runs, including a home run and seven RBIs. Kylie McRoberts from Whitefield Academy also made the list, picking up two wins and striking out 16 batters in games against Portland Christian and Jeffersontown.

Sophie Sheehan from Ballard had an outstanding performance with eight goals and one assist in games against Collins and North Oldham. Allie Streble from Mercy also impressed with her eight hits, including a home run, three RBIs, and a walk in games against North Bullitt, Assumption, and Bullitt East.

Hailey Voss from Sacred Heart contributed five goals and an assist to help her team secure wins over Mercy and Mariemont (Cincinnati).
