Emerging Stars in Science and Medicine: Past Wunderkinds Speak at STAT’s Annual Event

Past Wunderkinds to be Featured in Conversation at STAT’s Emerging Stars Event

STAT has announced its latest class of Wunderkinds, highlighting emerging stars in the fields of science and medicine as they begin their careers. This year’s event will also feature past Wunderkinds who have made significant strides in their respective fields.

During the event, participants will have the opportunity to hear from a diverse group of speakers, including Nicole M. Gaudelli, Ph.D., an entrepreneur at GV who invented the Adenine Base Editor, a gene-editing tool, and Kellie Jurado, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Pennsylvania researching immune system response to viral infections in early life.

Bianca Jones Marlin, Ph.D., from Columbia University will discuss her work on inheriting trauma and stress biologically, while Siddhartha Roy, Ph.D., from Rutgers University will focus on ensuring safe drinking water access for all in light of the Flint Water Crisis.

The event will also feature sponsor introductions from Lauren Averett Byers, M.D., and Koichi Takahashi, M.D., Ph.D., both from MD Anderson Cancer Center. The moderator for the event is Nicholas St. Fleur, a general assignment reporter and associate editorial director of events at STAT.
