Lombardy leads in digital transformation, says Butti

Lombardy is leading the digital transformation movement in Italy, as emphasized during a recent meeting held at the Department for Digital Transformation branch office in Milan. Undersecretary to the presidency of the Council, Alessio Butti, highlighted the importance of collaboration and human relationships in driving digital change. He pointed out how digital initiatives have improved citizens’ daily lives and underscored the need for continued efforts to enhance efficiency and quality of services.

The meeting in Milan was part of the “Pa Digitale 2026 Roadshow Lombardy,” which evaluated progress on digitalization projects across different provinces. Municipal administrators and technicians from Milan and Monza Brianza provinces attended, showcasing achievements in cloud migration and digital identity adoption. The regions of Milan and Monza Brianza have reported high participation rates in these initiatives, further demonstrating their commitment to digital transformation.

Lombardy has received significant funding for healthcare institutions, making it third in Italy for digital health initiatives. Additionally, both regions are leaders in issuing Electronic Identity Cards (Cie) to residents, highlighting their focus on innovation and social inclusion. These results underscore Lombardy’s dedication to driving digital change and setting an example for other regions to follow.

Overall, the meeting in Milan highlighted progress made by different provinces of Lombardy towards achieving a digitally transformed society. Collaboration between municipalities, healthcare institutions, and government bodies is critical to driving digital initiatives that improve services for citizens. As Lombardy continues to prioritize digitalization, it remains an inspiration for other regions in embracing the future of technology.
